About Us

IDA was founded in 2021 by graduate civil engineers who have a strong belief that they can immensely contribute to the alleviation of the effects of natural disasters within their communities. It is a non-profit organisation.

Vision
We imagine a world where people and infrastructure are protected from natural disasters through initiatives that include flood and drought proofing, forecasting and effect-alleviation.

  • Developing and improving flood and drought forecasting models in the proneareas of Zimbabwe.
  • Research, design and construction of low cost flood-proof infrastructure in floodprone rural, peri-urban and urban communities of Zimbabwe.
  • Research, design and implementation of drought-proof irrigation systems in drought prone areas of Zimbabwe.
  • Research, design, implementation and resource mobilisation of floodevacuation strategies.
